 Whether

jogging, walking or biking in our extensive park and trail system, Prior
Lake has something for everyone and is a community boldly looking to the
future with its 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan.
Adopted June 6, 2005 by the City Council, the new and improved 2030 Vision
and Strategic Plan charts a course for the city's development, creating
two- and five year objectives in nine categories that must be achieved
for the 2030 Vision to be realized.
 General
Info
Founded in the late 19th century, Prior Lake has bloomed from its small-town
origins into a rapidly growing suburban bedroom community. The town is located
within Scott County, the eighth fastest-growing county in the nation.
The town's growth has mirrored the ongoing development of adjacent Highway
13. The lake itself is a popular recreation area, drawing vacationers from
across the country and even overseas. Prior Lake is located less than 25
miles from Minneapolis and about five miles from Savage, the oldest district
within the community.
The town's self-subsisting economy is supported by commercial, retail and
banking establishments. The Mystic Lake Casino, located within the boundaries
of Prior Lake, is the only casino/hotel in the Twin Cities region. The casino
also provides a great deal of financial stability within the area.
Students in Prior Lake are served by Prior Lake-Savage Area School District
719, with the additional choice of several private schools. Numerous colleges
are within driving distance for students wishing to continue their education
after high school.
Real estate is affordable, with a variety of condominiums, townhouses and
single-family homes available at prices to suit any lifestyle. A beautiful
location and variety of amenities make Prior Lake an ideal home for businesses
and families alike.
 Education
There are two public high schools and one middle school in the Prior Lake-Savage
Area School District. Six elementary schools are available for younger
students. Two private middle schools and one private high school are available
as public school alternatives. A number of colleges and universities are
located within an hour’s drive, including the University of Minnesota-Twin
Cities and the University of St. Thomas.
Entertainment
Prior Lake is home to the Mystic Lake Casino, the only hotel/casino located
within the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. The casino is a boost to the local
economy as well as a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike.
Location
Prior Lake is just minutes from the Minnesota River and less than an hour’s
drive from Minneapolis. Residents avoid urban sprawl while reaping the
benefits of close proximity to the Twin Cities.

Prior Lake has approximately 15,917 residents.
Pricing
Prior Lake offers a variety of real estate properties, from single-family
homes to townhouses and condominiums. One- or two-story homes equipped
with three or four bedrooms, multicar garages, basements and fireplaces
range from just under $250,000 to $400,000. Prices for larger estate properties
and luxury executive homes can exceed $800,000. Many homes are located
along the shores of Lake Prior, offering scenic lake views. Three-bedroom
townhouses and condominiums are available from under $200,000 to $400,000.
Land and lots are available for custom construction, many featuring lake
frontage.
Recreation
Prior Lake's 130-acre park system comprises 32 facilities. Lakefront Park
includes an amphitheater, two beaches, a floating boardwalk, a three-mile
trail system, a playground area, two hockey rinks, a soccer field and
baseball diamond, tennis courts, a basketball court, and a pavilion and
park shelter. The athletic complex at Memorial Park has nine baseball/softball
fields and three football/soccer fields.
Prior Lake has a skate park for extreme sports enthusiasts, and golf is
available at several local and regional clubs.
