Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," and Orono is fortunate enough to have several lakes of its own. Orono sits amid a smattering of small lakes at the north end of Lake Minnetonka, just 13 miles west of Minneapolis. With its charming homes and trendy shops, this small town is a surprisingly fashionable place to live!

Education
The public school districts in the Orono area include Wayzata, Orono, Minnetonka and Mound-Westonka. Orono is proud of its excellent schools. The students have consistently scored first in all the state tests, and there is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of the faculty to see that their students do well.

Entertainment
Orono's lakeside shops offer the best in fashion, antiques, artwork and collectibles. Each summer, you can watch the yachts go by or see clusters of sailboats takes to the water. In the winter, you'll see ice racers, skaters and dozens of ice-fishing houses on Lake Minnetonka.

Location
Orono is situated 25 minutes southwest of downtown Minneapolis in Hennepin County, approximately 35 minutes from the airport and the Mall of America. It's just minutes away from great restaurants, shopping and parks.

Population
Orono has approximately 7,538 residents.

Pricing
The average home price in Orono is $325,000, with prices ranging from $320,000 to $10 million. Housing types include single-family homes, residential, commercial lots and land, investment properties, waterfront homes, and town homes and condominiums.

Recreation
The Luce Line State Trail is a 63-mile-long former railroad grade that now allows biking, hiking, snowmobiling and skiing. The trail runs from Plymouth 30 miles west to Winsted, with a parallel tread for horseback riding. Orono has many natural trails in and around the area, offering hiking, walking, jogging, cycling and roller-blading.
In the winter months, Orono also offers cross-country skiing and other recreational activities. Ice-fishing on the lakes is one popular pastime, as is snowmobiling across the lakes. Ice-skating is available outdoors or at one of many indoor ice arenas.
