Info
Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," and Orono is fortunate
enough to have several lakes of its own. Orono sits amid a smattering of
small lakes at the north end of Lake Minnetonka, just 13 miles west of Minneapolis.
With its charming homes and trendy shops, this small town is a surprisingly
fashionable place to live!
Education
The public school districts in the Orono area include Wayzata, Orono,
Minnetonka and Mound-Westonka. Orono is proud of its excellent schools.
The students have consistently scored first in all the state tests, and
there is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of the faculty to see that their
students do well.
Entertainment
Orono's lakeside shops offer the best in fashion, antiques, artwork and
collectibles. Each summer, you can watch the yachts go by or see clusters
of sailboats takes to the water. In the winter, you'll see ice racers,
skaters and dozens of ice-fishing houses on Lake Minnetonka.
Location
Orono is situated 25 minutes southwest of downtown Minneapolis in Hennepin
County, approximately 35 minutes from the airport and the Mall of America.
It's just minutes away from great restaurants, shopping and parks.

Orono has approximately 7,538 residents.

Recreation
The Luce Line State Trail is a 63-mile-long former railroad grade that
now allows biking, hiking, snowmobiling and skiing. The trail runs from
Plymouth 30 miles west to Winsted, with a parallel tread for horseback
riding. Orono has many natural trails in and around the area, offering
hiking, walking, jogging, cycling and roller-blading.
In the winter months, Orono also offers cross-country skiing and other
recreational activities. Ice-fishing on the lakes is one popular pastime,
as is snowmobiling across the lakes. Ice-skating is available outdoors
or at one of many indoor ice arenas.
